Cycling along the DANUBE River
This is a classic one week ride through the beautiful peaceful scenery that links two historic cities – charming Vienna and the beautiful Budapest. Vienna requires little introduction, with a wealth of history, famous sites, entertainment and culture. The route passes numerous rural villages and takes in the famous ‘Danube Bend’, one of the most picturesque sections of this famous river.
Follow cycle paths and good quality flat tracks for much of the time. There is just one hilly day. After a few miles in Slovakia the route continues to Hungary. Riverside woodland gives way to farmland, avenues of walnut trees, wide flat landscapes and the shady hills towards the famous Danube Bend. The end point of the trip is the beautiful city of Budapest with time to soak up the wonderful atmosphere, enjoy the stunning architecture and visit Buda Castle and the Royal Palace.
Saturday departures from July to September: from $1180 per person. Contact Chris@TravelBoecker.com for details.

Girlfriend Getaway to Umbria, Italy
“Just thinking about Umbria makes me smile. Italy seems to bring out the best in most people, the picturesque hilltowns we walked to each day and lovely hotels at night, with good food & fine wines to enjoy.
Highlights included Silvana taking us into her farm and pointing out the intricacies of the fine art of making olive oil. She made the best bruschetta in her fireplace with fresh simple ingredients. Then we met Anselmo, a regular on our hiking route who wanted to share with us his new wine and celebrate his 80th birthday. Further down the hill, Gianni had a lovely spread for our group to enjoy. In one of the monasteries, we met a 32 year old American priest who lived alone for many years in a newly refurbished old church and ministered to the Italian towns in the region.
We tasted wine, sumptuous food, and on our last day enjoyed some spa services in a lovely new hotel in Norcia. Cooking classes were a hit, and the chef made a special wild boar meal for our farewell dinner !
I will remember these moments, but most of all, I will think fondly of the laughter, the talks, words of encouragement we gave each other, the new friends we made.”
